Short movie, big action

I said it before, and I will say it again. Colin Farrell is the next big thing in Hollywood. If it was not apparent in "The Recruit" earlier this year, then "Phone Booth" is definitely his silver lining.
"Phone Booth" is an action/thriller about a publicist named Stu Shepherd, played by Farrell, who is held hostage in a phone booth by a sniper who vows to make Stu pay for his sins. I will not give away who plays the sniper to keep any suspense you might want for the movie. If you are good at recognizing voices though, you'll be pleasantly surprised. One of the choices the sniper makes Stu come to, is whether to choose his wife or his mistress.
Alright, forget that Forest Whitaker is in the movie as the good guy cop who tries to reason with Farrell when witnesses think he shot a man, who was really shot by the sniper. Forget Katie Holmes plays his mistress, Radha Mitchell is his wife, which to me it seems like he wins either way.
To put it plainly, Colin Farrell is this movie. Director Joel Schumacher might as well have called this "Colin Farrell is in a Phone Booth for 81 Minutes." Again though, Colin Farrell had the accompaniment of "The Voice", which my friend is so eager to point out.
This is a good movie, the action never stops from the opening credits to the twist ending. The only blemish on a virtually spotless movie is the runtime. Eighty-one minutes seems like the length of a Disney movie, but when you look at the fact that the movie is basically Farrell being held hostage in a phone booth across the street from a porn shop, there is not much to it. Yet still, Schumacher is able to turn this into possibly one of the best films this year.
