Closer Than Not is a local heavy
rock band from right here in grand
old Flint.

They hit the local scene last July
and have played at many local joints
since.

They've performed gigs at
Churchill's on Saginaw St. and at The
Machine Shop on Dort Hwy, where
they recorded their first live demo.
Closer Than Not's heavier style
takes a while to get used to, especially
in contrast to the average mellow
emo rock everyone seems to be listening
to at the moment. Hard rock and
metal is losing its niched favor among
stressed out college kids.
Some might not even acquire the
admire.

Their music has the hard rock feel
to it with a great lead on the guitar by
Kyle Phelps, talented drummer Billy
Davison and riggidy-raw bassist Phil
Murray. Rounding out the quartet is
lovable Irish lead singer, John
Hammon.

Even considering the exhausted
metal circut, Closer Than Not are definitely
an up and coming new talent in
this area with great potential. Their
live shows are exciting and vibrant.
These guys suck you in and make
you want to stand up and join in,
regardless of what they may be playing
out at the moment.
The fun never ends.

They all love their fans and are
genuinely nice people. They are energetic
with a true love for the music
they are performing. All things considered,
I give them a C+.
