Avoid repeating dreaded fashions

Fashion has been an important aspect of culture for centuries, from before the Victorian Era to the present day. Over the years, styles have evolved but there are many looks that transcend generations and many looks that are better left in the past.
One of these dreadful fashion faux pas are leg warmers. They may have been popular in the '80s when the movie "Footloose" came out, but unless you want to commit fashion suicide do not EVER wear them again. They may still be appropriate for a retro Halloween costume but not for every day wear.
Another fashion trend that, I am saddened to say, is still lingering around like a nasty virus are high-waisted pants. Sometimes referred to as "mom jeans," these pants are one of the most unflattering styles on a woman's figure. Mother or not, no lady should ever be caught dead in this atrocious fashion no-no. Not only do the jeans ride well above the belly button, they make your butt look large and unshapely.
Along with jeans that ride below the breast are tapered leg jeans. Is there really any justification for ever wearing this style again? It may have seemed cool in elementary or middle school when tight-rolling was popular but now it is a serious no-no. Some magazines may suggest slim and petite women to wear tapered jeans to add curves but there are many other ways to achieve that.
These next two fashion trends that should be left in the past are for the men; cut-off shorts and mullets. It seems to be common to see these two disastrous looks combined. Please guys, look in the mirror once in a while! Mullets are not attractive.
No matter what hold you think they have on the women, it is only a figment of your imagination. Do us all a favor and see a barber. While you are at it, buy a pair of jeans and stay away from scissors.
This list could go on forever seeing that there are hundreds of years of fashion to mull over. These bad fads are better left in vintage catalogues. Fashion plays an important role in our society and is one of the most prominent forms of self expression. We use our looks to define who we are. What do you want your style to say about you?
